Background information about 'Evil Remains'

Castle return with "Evil Remains", an album that grabs you by the throat from the very first riff and doesn't let go. This California duo has been flying the flag for old-school doom and heavy metal for over a decade, and with this record they sound hungrier than ever. The guitars are thick and fuzzy, the bass rumbles like distant thunder, and the vocals cut through the mix with a raw, commanding presence that feels both timeless and urgent.

What makes "Evil Remains" so compelling is how effortlessly it moves between crushing doom passages and up-tempo heavy metal gallops. Tracks like "Queen of Death" and "Nosferatu Nights" channel that classic horror-obsessed metal energy, while "Deja Voodoo" and "Black Spell" lock into hypnotic grooves that will have you nodding along before you know it. There's a genuine love for the genre's roots here, but Castle never sound like a tribute act, they push their own sound forward with conviction and swagger.

The production is warm and analog-sounding, letting every instrument breathe without losing any of the heaviness. This is metal made by people who clearly live and breathe this music, and it shows in every note. "Evil Remains" is a reminder that doom metal can still feel vital, dangerous, and above all, fun. Whether you're a longtime fan or new to the band, this album delivers exactly what the title promises.
