Background information about 'Frost And Fire (40th Anniversary Edition)'

Four decades have passed since Cirith Ungol unleashed their earth-shattering debut "Frost And Fire" upon the world, and this 40th anniversary edition stands as a testament to the enduring power of true heavy metal. The Californian legends crafted something truly special back in 1981 – a raw, uncompromising slab of metal that bridged the gap between the NWOBHM movement and the emerging American underground scene. Tim Baker's soaring, operatic vocals dance dangerously over Greg Lindstrom's crushing riffs, while the rhythm section pounds with the relentless force of a medieval war machine.

This anniversary celebration doesn't just honor the original album – it elevates it. The second disc presents alternate versions that reveal new dimensions to these classic tracks, showcasing the band's creative process and the evolution of their sound. Every note crackles with the same rebellious energy that made "Frost And Fire" a cult classic, from the thunderous title track to the haunting melodies of "Maybe That's Why". The limited digibook presentation treats this masterpiece with the reverence it deserves, making this essential for both longtime devotees and newcomers ready to discover why Cirith Ungol remains one of metal's most revered cult acts.
