Background information about 'Half Past Human'
Cirith Ungol returns with a vengeance on "Half Past Human", delivering four tracks of uncompromising heavy metal fury that showcases exactly why these California legends remain one of the most revered names in epic metal. Opening with the driving "Route 666", the band immediately establishes their signature blend of dark fantasy themes and crushing riffs, while "Shelob's Lair" continues their tradition of Tolkien-inspired mythology wrapped in thunderous metal majesty. The guitar work is absolutely phenomenal, weaving intricate melodies with bone-crushing power that'll have you reaching for the volume knob.
The B-side unleashes "Brutish Manchild" and the title track "Half Past Human", both showcasing the band's ability to craft songs that are simultaneously epic and immediate. Tim Baker's distinctive vocals soar over the relentless rhythm section, while the guitar duo creates walls of sound that feel both ancient and timeless. This isn't just a collection of songs - it's a statement that Cirith Ungol still has plenty of fire left in their creative forge, proving that true heavy metal never dies.
