Background information über 'Andreas EP'
When Andreas Catjar-Danielsson left this world on July 29, 2024, after his battle with cancer, Covenant knew they had to honor their beloved friend and former bandmate in the most fitting way possible. The "Andreas EP" marks the Swedish electronic pioneers' first release in nearly a decade, serving as both a heartfelt tribute and a charitable endeavor with all proceeds supporting Andreas' widow and their two children. This deeply personal collection showcases five experimental tracks that push the boundaries of Covenant's signature sound while maintaining the emotional intelligence that has defined their career.
The EP features two compelling cover versions that demonstrate the band's versatility - Yazoo's "Winter Kills" and Lee Hazlewood's "A Rider on a White Horse" - alongside three original compositions including "I Walk Slow," "Slow Dance," and "Das Nibelungenlied." Each track feels like a meditation on loss and remembrance, with Covenant's masterful electronic craftsmanship creating atmospheric soundscapes that honor their friend's memory. The band, who formed in Helsingborg in 1988 and have been pushing electronic music forward for over three decades, prove that even in grief they can create something beautiful and meaningful.
