Justin Greaves has been steering this ship since 2004, and across two decades the project has never once taken the easy road. But Sceaduhelm feels different. It's not the grand historical sweep of previous outings — this one turns inward, burrowing into the quiet catastrophes of burnout, emotional erosion, and the kind of exhaustion that doesn't announce itself until you're already hollowed out.
Written and recorded between 2023 and 2025, these twelve tracks unfold as a single psychological space rather than a traditional album. Greaves and his collaborators — with vocals shared between Belinda Kordic, Ryan Patterson, and Justin Storms — have crafted something that resists catharsis at every turn. The songwriting favors slow builds and unresolved tension, melodies that circle rather than resolve, arrangements that breathe and ache and occasionally crack open. Produced by Greaves and mixed by Iver Sandøy, the sound is deliberately raw, exposed, refusing the comfort of polish. Themes of memory, violence against the vulnerable, and love worn thin surface without spectacle — Sceaduhelm listens closely to what remains after outrage has faded, focusing on consequence rather than reaction. It's not an easy record, but the best ones rarely are.
