Background information about 'Near Death Experience'
Cro-Mags deliver an absolutely crushing return with "Near Death Experience", an album that showcases why they remain one of hardcore's most vital forces. This collection brings together some of their most intense material, including the apocalyptic opener "Say Good-Bye To Mother Earth" and the spiritually charged "Kali-Yuga", which draws from Hindu philosophy to create something truly transcendent. The band's signature blend of hardcore aggression with deeper philosophical themes runs throughout, with tracks like "War On The Streets" and "Death In The Womb" hitting with the kind of raw power that made them legends in the first place.
What makes this release particularly special is how it bridges different eras of the band's evolution. The inclusion of "The Other Side Of Madness (Rat Soup Version '93)" serves as a perfect bookend, connecting their classic material with their continued creative fire. Songs like "Time I Am" and "Reflections" show a band that's not afraid to explore introspective territory while maintaining their crushing sonic assault. The title track itself is a journey through existential themes that only Cro-Mags could deliver with such conviction and intensity.
