Background information about 'Greatest Hits'

When it comes to blazing hardcore punk that helped define a generation, few bands can match the raw intensity and relentless energy of D.R.I. This "Greatest Hits" collection serves as the perfect introduction to the Texas-born crossover thrash legends who've been melting faces since 1982. From the lightning-fast assault of "Who Am I?" to the politically charged fury of "Violent Pacification", this compilation showcases exactly why D.R.I. became one of the most influential bands in the hardcore scene. The album captures their evolution from pure hardcore punk to the crossover thrash sound that would inspire countless bands.

What makes this collection truly special is how it demonstrates the band's ability to deliver maximum impact in minimal time - most tracks clock in under two minutes but pack enough punch to level city blocks. Songs like "I Don't Need Society" and "Argument Then War" showcase Kurt Brecht's distinctive vocals and the band's razor-sharp musicianship. The longer tracks like "Nursing Home Blues" and "Five Year Plan" reveal their more developed songwriting while maintaining that signature D.R.I. aggression that made them crossover kings.
