Background information about 'A Furrow Cut Short'
Ukrainian atmospheric black metal masters Drudkh deliver another haunting masterpiece with "A Furrow Cut Short", showcasing their signature blend of melancholic melodies and crushing atmospheric density. The album continues the band's exploration of Ukrainian history and folklore, weaving together eight tracks that flow like chapters in an epic tale of sorrow and resilience. The opening "Cursed Sons" diptych sets the tone with its cascading tremolo guitars and hypnotic rhythms, while "To The Epoch Of Unbowed Poets" stands as a monument to artistic resistance against oppression.
The second half of the album maintains the emotional intensity with the two-part "Dishonour" sequence, building to the album's climactic finale "Till Foreign Ground Shall Cover Eyes". Drudkh's ability to create vast sonic landscapes without losing the raw edge of black metal remains unparalleled, and this release proves why they've remained one of the most respected acts in the atmospheric black metal scene for over two decades.
