Background information about 'Crimson (Re-issue 2025)'

Edge Of Sanity's "Crimson" stands as one of the most ambitious and groundbreaking achievements in progressive death metal history. Originally released in 1996, this conceptual masterpiece tells a haunting tale of humanity's final hours through a single 40-minute song divided into eight interconnected parts. The Swedish masters crafted something truly extraordinary here - a seamless blend of crushing death metal brutality and progressive rock sophistication that flows like a dark symphony. Dan Swanö's visionary songwriting and production work alongside Mikael Åkerfeldt's guest vocals create an atmosphere that's both terrifyingly heavy and beautifully melodic.

This re-issue treatment gives "Crimson" the royal treatment it deserves, featuring both the 2025 remaster and a complete remix that breathes new life into every crushing riff and soaring melody. The album's narrative structure remains as compelling as ever, weaving through moments of apocalyptic heaviness and haunting beauty with surgical precision. Each part builds upon the last, creating an epic journey that rewards both casual listeners and devoted metalheads who've spent years dissecting every nuance. The interplay between clean vocals and death growls, combined with the band's masterful use of dynamics, makes this essential listening for anyone serious about extreme music.

For fans of: Opeth, Bloodbath, Katatonia, Amorphis and Dan Swanö
