Background information about 'Death Mask Messiah'
German thrash metal has always had a certain bite to it, and Exumer have been proving that since the early 80s. With Death Mask Messiah, the Frankfurt crew delivers another slab of razor-sharp, neck-snapping thrash that doesn't mess around. This is the kind of record that grabs you by the throat from the first riff and doesn't let go until the final feedback fade-out.
From the moment the opening track kicks in, you know you're in for a ride. The production is punchy and raw enough to keep that underground feel, but polished just enough to let every riff land like a sledgehammer. Memmmel's vocals are as venomous as ever, spitting out lyrics about societal decay, war, and inner demons with a conviction that's hard to fake. The rhythm section is tight as hell, locking into grooves that'll have you banging your head before you even realize what's happening. Tracks like “Death Mask Messiah” and “Descent Into Darkness” showcase the band at their absolute peak, blending classic Bay Area aggression with that unmistakable German precision. This is thrash metal played by people who actually live and breathe it, not by kids cosplaying in bullet belts.
