Background information about 'Fetzer and the Turbochargers'

Some records arrive with a handshake and a grin, and this debut from Fetzer and the Turbochargers is exactly that kind of beast. "Fetzer and the Turbochargers" is straight ahead, dirt under the fingernails rock 'n' roll — the kind that smells of warm tube amps, spilled beer and a rehearsal room where nobody ever bothered to sweep the floor. The guitars bite, the rhythm section shoves, and the whole thing swaggers along like it knows it's got nothing to prove to anybody. This is body music with the focus squarely on the low end of the anatomy, and it never once pretends to be anything smarter than that.

What makes it stick is the sheer range of mischief on display. "Spaceface" and "Balls of Perfection" come out swinging with riffs built for a sweaty basement, "Girl" and "Superstitious" dial in a greasy groove that keeps the hips moving, and "I Say Hey" stretches out past the six minute mark to let the band breathe and burn. Then there's the closer, a rock version of "Backe backe Kuchen" that lasts barely a minute and is worth the price of admission on its own — pure, cheeky, gloriously unserious. It's loud, it's fun, it's the sound of a band playing for the sheer joy of making a racket.
