Background information about 'Paragon'
There are voices, and then there is Floor Jansen. The woman who has spent years fronting Nightwish with a power that could level stadiums steps out on her own with Paragon, and the result is nothing short of a revelation. Where her day job demands operatic grandeur and symphonic bombast, this record finds her stretching into territory that feels both deeply personal and gloriously untethered. Paragon is not a side project in the usual sense, it is a statement. Floor strips away the orchestral armor and lets her voice do what it does best: soar, ache, rage, and heal, often within the space of a single track.
The songs here are built to breathe. There is a warmth and intimacy to the production that lets every nuance of her delivery come through, from the softest whisper to the full-throated roar that has made her one of the most admired vocalists in modern rock. The alternative edge that runs through the album gives it a modern pulse, but the songwriting is rooted in classic, timeless melody. Paragon feels like an artist finally stepping fully into her own light, unafraid to be vulnerable and unapologetic about her range. This is Floor Jansen at her most honest, and it is an absolute thrill to witness.
