Background information about 'Call Of The North'
Frozen Crown don't do things by halves. With "Call of the North" the Italians throw open the gates to a snow-blasted fantasy realm where power metal riffing meets soaring, symphonic grandeur — and once you're in, there is no way back. The guitars are razor sharp, the rhythm section drives like a war drum, and above it all sits a voice that could crack glaciers. This is the sound of a band that has grown up hungry: more focused, more melodic, more dramatic than anything they've done before, yet still wearing its love for the genre on its sleeve.
What makes the record tick is the balance. Big, anthemic choruses are traded against furious double-bass passages; folk-tinged melodies sneak in between the twin-guitar harmonies, and every now and then the whole thing drops into a moment of near-cinematic quiet before the next storm breaks. It's unashamedly epic, occasionally over the top, and all the better for it — the kind of album that makes you want to raise a fist, turn the volume up a notch too far and pretend the neighbours don't exist.
