Frozen Crown have never been a band to tiptoe. "Call of the North" opens with the title track firing on all cylinders, and from there the Italians barely let up. Giada Etro and Federico Mondelli trade vocal lines like a pair of duelists who happen to be best friends, and the guitar work keeps one foot planted in classic Euro power metal while the other stomps through modern, punchy territory. There is a lot of melody here, but it never turns saccharine, and the rhythm section drives everything with a relentless, almost martial groove that suits the album's wintry, warlike imagery.

Big anthemic choruses sit comfortably next to darker, heavier passages, and the production gives every instrument room to breathe without sanding off the edges. Tracks like "Fire in the Sky" and "Victorious" are built for a festival main stage, fists in the air, while quieter moments reveal a band that actually thinks about dynamics instead of just piling on the double bass. It is the sound of a group that knows exactly what it wants and goes for it without apology.
