Background information about 'The Rot Beneath'

Swedish death metal supergroup Grand Cadaver returns with their crushing new EP "The Rot Beneath", a four-track assault that perfectly captures the raw, buzzsaw-driven sound that made the Stockholm death metal scene legendary. Featuring the incredible talents of Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity, The Halo Effect) on vocals, Stefan Lagergren (The Grifted, ex-Treblinka/Expulsion) and Alex Stjernfeldt (Novarupta, Let Them Hang) on guitars, Christian Jansson (Pagandom, ex-Dark Tranquillity) on bass, and Daniel Liljekvist (Vorder, ex-Katatonia) on drums, this EP showcases why Grand Cadaver has become such a vital force in modern extreme metal. The opening track "Blood-Red Banner" immediately establishes the band's menacing atmosphere, while "The Rot Beneath" delivers the kind of skull-crushing intensity that made their live performances legendary.

Building on the success of their previous releases including the chart-hitting debut EP "Madness Comes" and their award-winning full-length "Into the Maw of Death", this new offering demonstrates the band's ability to honor the traditions of late '80s and early '90s Stockholm death metal while infusing it with modern energy and their collective decades of experience. Tracks like "Endless Dead" and "Darkened Apathy" showcase the iconic HM-2 pedal sound that defines the Swedish death metal aesthetic, delivered with the ferocious yet catchy songwriting that has earned Grand Cadaver critical acclaim and a dedicated following.
