Background information about 'Death Awaits'
Swedish death metal maniacs Tormented deliver an absolutely crushing blow with "Death Awaits", their sophomore full-length that showcases the band's relentless commitment to old-school brutality. This album is a masterclass in Swedish death metal tradition, combining the buzzsaw guitar tone that made Stockholm famous with an uncompromising approach to songwriting that never lets up for a single moment. From the opening title track's devastating riffs to the haunting closer "In The Presence Of Death", Tormented prove they're worthy inheritors of the legacy established by their legendary countrymen.
The production on "Death Awaits" strikes that perfect balance between clarity and filth that defines great death metal records. Tracks like "Blood Orgy" and "Insane With Dread" showcase the band's ability to craft memorable hooks within their wall of sonic devastation, while longer compositions such as "To Spill Her Blood" demonstrate their knack for building tension and atmosphere. The album flows seamlessly from crushing mid-paced stompers to blistering fast attacks, creating a dynamic listening experience that keeps you on edge throughout its 40-minute runtime.
