Background information about '(R)Evolution'
There is a moment about thirty seconds into "(R)Evolution" where the twin guitars lock in, the double bass starts rolling, and you remember exactly why power metal still makes the hairs on your arms stand up. Hammerfall have never been a band interested in subtlety, and thank the gods for that. This is an album that wears its heart, its leather and its battle scars proudly on its sleeve, and it swings for the fences from the very first note of "Hector's Hymn" right through to the closing blaze of "Wildfire".
What makes this record such a joy is how comfortable the Swedes sound in their own skin. Joacim Cans sounds absolutely enormous, half preacher, half warlord, and the riff work is razor sharp without ever feeling clinical. Tracks like "Bushido" and "Live Life Loud" are pure fist-in-the-air anthems built for festival fields, while "Ex Inferis" and "Evil Incarnate" dig into darker, heavier territory that keeps things from ever getting too comfortable. There is craft here, real songwriting craft, the kind that only comes from decades of doing this and loving every second of it.
