When a band calls themselves Sandstorm and opens their debut EP with a title track named "Dungeon of Death", you know exactly what kind of ride you're in for — and brother, it's a glorious one. This six-track assault doesn't waste a single second on pleasantries. From the moment the needle drops, you're dragged into a sweaty, leather-clad maelstrom of pure, unadulterated heavy metal that sounds like it was forged in some forgotten basement rehearsal room in 1983, not 2026. The riffs are sharp as a switchblade, the rhythm section gallops with the kind of reckless abandon that would make the NWOBHM forefathers proud, and the whole thing crackles with that raw, hungry energy you just can't fake.

The songwriting across these six tracks shows a band that has clearly studied the sacred texts — there are echoes of early Iron Maiden in those twin-guitar harmonies, a healthy dose of Saxon-style street-tough swagger, and the kind of punk-infused urgency that made Jaguar and Blitzkrieg so damn exciting back in the day. "Slave to Sin" rips along with a venomous intensity, while "Storm the Gate" closes things out with an epic flourish that hints at even bigger things to come. The production is raw but punchy, exactly the way this kind of music should sound — none of that over-polished, ProTools-perfect nonsense. Dying Victims Productions has unearthed a real gem here, the kind of band that makes you want to dig out your old denim vest and throw up the horns. This is the sound of a band kicking down the door and announcing themselves with absolute conviction.
