Background information about 'Machinations'
Hark delivers a crushing sonic assault with "Machinations", their sophomore full-length that showcases the Welsh trio's evolution into one of the most formidable forces in modern heavy rock. The album opens with the thunderous "Fortune Favours The Insane", immediately establishing the band's signature blend of crushing riffs and atmospheric dynamics that permeates throughout the nine-track journey. Each composition demonstrates Hark's ability to seamlessly weave together elements of doom, sludge, and progressive rock, creating a sound that's both brutally heavy and surprisingly nuanced.
The album's centerpiece tracks like "Nine Fates" and "Transmutation" showcase the band's knack for building tension through methodical pacing and explosive releases, while "Son Of Pythagoras" explores more experimental territory without sacrificing the raw power that defines their sound. The production captures every crushing detail while maintaining the organic feel that makes Hark's music so compelling, culminating in the cathartic finale "The Purge" that leaves listeners both satisfied and craving more.
