Background information about 'River Black'
When members of legendary crossover thrash titans Municipal Waste and technical death metal masters Revocation join forces, you know something special is brewing. "River Black" delivers exactly that - a crushing self-titled debut that showcases modern American metal at its most visceral and uncompromising. The album opens with the brief but brutal "Jaws", immediately establishing the band's intent to blend crushing heaviness with surgical precision, before diving headfirst into tracks like "Honor" and "Low" that demonstrate their ability to craft memorable hooks without sacrificing an ounce of aggression.
What makes this release truly stand out is how seamlessly it weaves together the crossover sensibilities of Municipal Waste with Revocation's technical prowess, creating something that feels both familiar and refreshingly new. Tracks like "Shipwreck" and the title track "River Black" showcase the band's dynamic range, while "#victim" and the epic closer "Everywhere" prove they can sustain intensity across longer compositions. The production is crisp and punchy, allowing every riff to cut through while maintaining the raw energy that makes this style so compelling.
For fans of: Municipal Waste, Revocation, Power Trip, Toxic Holocaust and Iron Reagan
