Background information about 'Guillotine'
Guillotine lands like a dropped anvil. HateSphere have never been a band to tiptoe around a riff, and here they come out swinging with the kind of tight, sawtoothed thrash that made their name back in the day. The Danish crew know exactly how much groove a galloping double-bass run can carry before it tips into pure chaos, and they ride that line for everything it is worth. Guitars slice in and out of each other, the low end stays filthy and articulate, and the vocals spit with that raspy, road-worn authority that only comes from two decades of doing this properly.
What keeps it from being just another retro thrash record is the songwriting. There is real craft in the way these tracks build, drop, and then come roaring back harder than before. Choruses arrive like a fist to the jaw, solos are short and lethal rather than self-indulgent, and the whole thing clocks in lean and mean. It is the sound of a band who still get a kick out of playing fast, and that joy is contagious. Turn it up loud enough and you can practically smell the sweat of a packed club.
