Background information about 'Sonnentanz'
When Hekate unleashed "Sonnentanz" upon the world in 2000, they didn't just release an album – they carved a monument into the bedrock of German Neofolk. This isn't your typical folk record; it's a passionate tribute to the free-spirited "Bündische Jugend" and the rebellious "Edelweißpiraten", Germany's forgotten youth of the 1930s who dared to dream beyond the confines of their tumultuous era.
The acoustic arrangements here pulse with an authenticity that cuts straight to the bone. Each track weaves folkloric melodies with an intensity that feels both ancient and urgently contemporary. Hekate crafted something that transcends mere nostalgia – "Sonnentanz" captures the essence of youthful rebellion and the eternal human spirit that refuses to be crushed. The production maintains that raw, intimate quality that makes you feel like you're sitting around a campfire with these musical storytellers, yet every note resonates with the weight of historical significance.
