Background information about 'Sonnentanz'
What a journey this is! Hekate's "Sonnentanz" stands as nothing short of a monument in German Neofolk, and hearing it today still sends chills down your spine. Originally unleashed in 2000, this masterpiece captures the raw essence of folkloric acoustic artistry that would define the genre for years to come. The album breathes with an almost mystical energy, weaving tales of Germany's lost youth movement – the Bündische Jugend and the rebellious Edelweißpiraten of the 1930s. Every track pulses with authentic emotion and historical reverence that's absolutely captivating.
The acoustic arrangements here are simply stunning, showcasing Hekate's ability to channel both melancholy and hope through masterful songcraft. This isn't just music; it's a sonic time capsule that transports listeners to a different era entirely. The revised artwork and liner notes in this reissue add even more depth to an already profound listening experience. The production maintains that raw, intimate quality that makes you feel like you're sitting around a campfire, listening to stories passed down through generations.
