Background information about 'Triumph & Tragedy'
There is a very specific kind of joy that arrives when a young band decides that the 1980s never actually ended, and "Triumph & Tragedy" is that joy pressed onto wax. Hitten come out of Spain swinging, and they swing like they mean it: twin guitars trading licks, a rhythm section that pushes instead of plods, and choruses built for fists in the air and a beer in the other hand. This is trad metal in the truest sense — no irony, no genre tourism, just riffs that bite and melodies that stick around long after the needle lifts.
What makes the record so easy to love is the balance. The band clearly worships at the altar of the NWOBHM and the early European speed metal scene, but they never let reverence turn into photocopying. The songs breathe, the arrangements have room to move, and the vocals carry real grit rather than a thin, over-processed sheen. There are galloping passages that will have you air-drumming at the traffic light, and there are slower, moodier moments that show a band thinking about dynamics instead of just sprinting for the finish line. It is the sound of five people who grew up on the good stuff and decided to write their own chapter.
