Impending Doom from Thuringia, Germany, started their journey back in 1993 under a different banner before settling on this name in 1995. Over a decade of activity, three studio albums, and more than 200 shows across Europe, they carved out a sound that defied easy categorization. Now, a full 25 years after their swansong, Darkness Shall Rise Productions has done the underground a massive favor by compiling the band's earliest recordings into one definitive 2LP package.

What you get here is a time capsule of pure, unadulterated 90s metal darkness. The Messias Abaddon demo (1995) is raw, grim, and dripping with the kind of atmosphere that defined the early works of My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, and even Darkthrone's Soulside Journey. It's a bastard child of doom and death metal, haunting and unpolished. Then comes Pagan Fires (Promo 96), where the blackened winds start to blow. Thrash and black metal influences creep in, the vocals grow more versatile, and tracks like Aeon of Dreams and the title track Pagan Fires hit with a ferocity that hasn't aged a day. Remastered by Patrick W. Engel at Temple of Disharmony, this edition breathes new life into these forgotten gems. Packed with unseen photos and a fresh interview with all band members, this is the definitive document of a cult act that deserved so much more.
