When Inhuman Condition emerged from the ashes of the legendary death metal outfit Massacre in 2020, they carried with them the weight of expectation and the burning desire to forge their own path. "Mind Trap" represents the band's third full-length assault and arguably their most cohesive statement yet. The trio of Jeramie Kling (vocals, drums), Taylor Nordberg (guitars), and veteran bassist Terry Butler (who has also served time in Massacre) have crafted nine tracks of unrelenting old-school death metal that manages to honor the past while carving out distinctly modern territory. The album's production, handled entirely in-house by the band, captures every crushing riff and thunderous blast beat with crystal clarity.

Lyrically, "Mind Trap" serves as a commentary on our increasingly dystopian world, with Nordberg's words exploring themes ranging from technological oppression to serial killers and sci-fi horror. Tracks like "Severely Lifeless" and "Chaos Engine" showcase the band's ability to balance brutal technicality with memorable songcraft, while the closing "Science of Discontent" leaves listeners battered but craving more. The stunning artwork by Dan Goldsworthy perfectly complements the album's dark themes, creating a visual representation of the mental imprisonment the title suggests.
