Background information about 'Firesky'
There is a moment on "Firesky" where everything goes quiet, and then everything goes wrong in the best possible way. Konvent have never been a band to fill space for the sake of it, and their new full-length keeps that discipline while pushing the doom template into colder, stranger territory. The Copenhagen four-piece built their reputation on a sound that feels like standing in a cathedral that is slowly collapsing, and here they sharpen the rubble into something almost melodic. Riffs grind and then dissolve, drums land like doors slamming in an empty corridor, and the vocals sit somewhere between a prayer and a threat.
What makes "Firesky" land so hard is its patience. Nothing is rushed. Tracks like "Exorcise" and "In the Unknown" take their time building pressure, letting a single chord ring until it turns into a warning, and the payoff always arrives. There is grief in this record, and there is fury, but the band never mistakes volume for intensity. Instead they let the low end do the talking, and it says plenty. If you have been waiting for a doom album that respects your attention span and rewards it, this is it.
