Background information about 'Back To Primal Sludge'
If you've been craving that raw, filthy old school death metal sound that hits you right in the gut, LEPER COLONY's third full-length "Back to Primal Sludge" is exactly what the doctor ordered. This band doesn't mess around – they've been on a mission to find the perfect sweet spot between the Floridian and Stockholm styles of death metal, and on this record, they've nailed it.
The chemistry here is undeniable. German vocalist Marc Grewe – yeah, the same legendary voice from MORGOTH, INSIDIOUS DISEASE, and ASINHELL – teams up with Swedish guitarist/bassist Rogga Johansson, a true workhorse of the scene with PAGANIZER, RIBSPREADER, and REVOLTING under his belt. Together they've crafted a record that feels like a direct, pissed-off continuation of their 2025 sophomore "Those of the Morbid". Tracks like “Madness Is a Kingdom” and “Thrown to the Pigs” are pure, unadulterated death metal worship, while “Seelenjäger” brings a grim, Teutonic edge to the table. The production is thick, dirty, and perfectly balanced – modern enough to pack a punch but raw enough to keep that underground spirit alive. This is the kind of record that makes you want to dig out your old Entombed and Autopsy records and just wallow in the filth.
For fans of: Morgoth, Paganizer, Entombed, Dismember, Autopsy
