More about 'Condamnés'
In 2001, when Malédiction released their album "Condamnés" via Brennus Music, it was met with enthusiasm by media and the band's hardcore fans. However, traditional Heavy Metal was facing a challenging era at the beginning of the new millennium, and the band never received the recognition they deserved. Originating from Laon in northern France, Sylvain Mollard (guitar/vocals), Mathieu Poulain (guitar), Olivier Messaoui (bass), and Nicolas Mollard (drums) came together in September 1997. Initially covering songs by Megadeth, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden, they soon focused on creating their own material sung in French.
The band's first demo tape was hastily recorded in November 1997 during a two-day session and included five tracks. Encouraged by positive feedback from the music press, Malédiction decided to re-record these tracks between January 15th and 24th, 2021 at Studio Val D'Orge. They added two brand-new compositions and a cover of "Les Enfants De L'Ombre" by ADX. Brennus Music subsequently chose to release the album on CD. Musically, tracks like "Le Fils De Satan," "Le Masque De Fer," or "L'Ange Noir" follow in the tradition of bands like Blasphème, Sortilège, or ADX, characterized by mid-tempo heavy metal with galloping riffs and memorable melodies.
