Marduk's "Totentanz 2001" documents the Swedish battalion at full combat speed, and it is every bit as relentless as the title suggests. Recorded on the German leg of the 2001 campaign, the set leans hard on the era that made them infamous — the blasting, hyper-speed assault that turned a trio from Norrköping into one of the most feared names in Scandinavian extremity. What you hear is not polish. It is friction, sweat and the roar of a crowd that came for punishment and got it.
The song selection is a greatest-hits of devastation: "Panzer Division Marduk" rolls in like armour, "Sulphur Souls" and "Funeral Bitch" trade razor-wire riffing for pure velocity, and "Still Fucking Dead (Here's No Peace)" lands with the kind of ugly, glorious momentum that studio versions can only hint at. Legion's vocals cut through the wall of sound like a siren, while the rhythm section simply refuses to slow down.
