Background information about 'Christus Hypercubus'
Swiss thrash metal veterans Messiah return with their latest sonic assault "Christus Hypercubus", a blistering collection that showcases the band's enduring ability to craft devastating extreme metal. The album opens with the meteorite-inspired "Sikhote Alin" before diving headfirst into the title track's hypnotic brutality. Songs like "Speed Sucker Romance" and "Centipede Bites" demonstrate the band's knack for combining technical prowess with memorable hooks, while the darkly humorous "Please Do Not Disturb (While I'm Dying)" adds a twisted sense of personality to the proceedings.
The album's second half maintains the intensity with tracks like "Soul Observatory" and "Acid Fish" exploring more atmospheric territories without sacrificing the band's signature aggression. The two-part epic "The Venus Baroness" serves as a fitting climax, building from ominous beginnings to explosive conclusions. Throughout the record, Messiah proves they've lost none of their edge, delivering ten tracks of uncompromising thrash that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly modern.
