Background information about 'Reminiscence'
There's something deeply unsettling and utterly thrilling about the way Miscreance twist death metal into a psychedelic knot on their second album Reminiscence. These Italian four-piece wizards aren't just recycling old riffs — they're digging through the ruins of some forgotten civilization and pulling out sounds that shouldn't exist together. And yet, here we are.
Following up their 2022 debut on Season of Mist, the band dives headfirst into a concept that feels like a fever dream: cave paintings meet telepathic surgeries, digeridoos clash with tech-thrash precision, and the whole thing is held together by drummer Andrea Feltrin's guttural growls and inhumanly tight rhythms. The lead single “Scalp Ceremony” is a bloodthirsty beast that suddenly throws bongos into the mix — and somehow it works. Tracks like “Oracle’s Rift” and “The Moaning Hill” twist through proggy tempo shifts and razor-sharp riffs that would make the old guard sweat. This isn't nostalgia. This is mutation.
