Italian technical death metal has always had a certain flair, and Miscreance are proving to be worthy torchbearers of that legacy. With Reminiscence, the follow-up to their 2022 debut on Season of Mist, this four-piece doesn't just rehash the glory days of the genre — they twist it into something far more unsettling and mesmerizing.

While comparisons to Death, Atheist, and Pestilence came naturally with their first outing, Miscreance take a sharp left turn here. This isn't a nostalgia trip. It's a fever dream of an album where tech-thrash riffing collides with prog-infused tempo shifts, and where bongos, digeridoo, and berimbau sit comfortably alongside surgical death metal precision. The lead single Scalp Ceremony sets the tone — blistering pace, relentless aggression, and then suddenly... bongos. It shouldn't work, but it absolutely does.

Lyrically, the band digs through the sands of time to unearth a strange, forgotten civilization — one where cave paintings and telepathic surgeries coexist. The Moaning Hill twists and turns like a perverse ritual, while Oracle's Rift finds drummer Andrea Feltrin delivering guttural growls amidst razor-sharp riffing. The production is crisp yet raw, letting every intricate detail breathe. This is old-school death metal with its eyes firmly fixed on the future.
