Background information about 'Anno Satanae'
Moonspell's 'Anno Satanae' is an evocative journey into the band's nascent stages, capturing the unrefined energy and mystique that defined their early sound. This compilation features tracks from their formative years, including 'Serpent Angel' from Morbid God (1992) and selections from the 1993 release 'Anno Satanæ'. The album encapsulates a time when Moonspell was still carving out its identity in the dark realms of gothic metal. The collection also reintroduces listeners to the 'Under the Moonspell' era, showcasing a unique blend of oriental influences and melodic undertones. Curated by Fernando Ribeiro, this release presents a rare glimpse into the band's initial creative explorations before they ventured to Germany for their groundbreaking debut 'Wolfheart'. With added re-recordings from 'Under Satanæ' (2007), this album stands as a testament to Moonspell's enduring legacy in extreme music.
