Background information about 'Far From God'

Five years of searching, doubt, and creative turmoil. That's what separates MOONSPELL's last outing from Far From God — and you can hear every single second of that journey in these twelve tracks. The Portuguese gothic metal pioneers aren't just back; they're reborn, sharper, darker, and emotionally raw in ways we haven't heard from them in years.

From the moment the title track Far From God kicks in, you know this is something special. A hymn to tragic vampiric love that revives all the mystique and romantic darkness that made gothic metal spellbinding in the first place. Dense guitars, layered keyboards that add atmosphere without softening the blow, and Fernando Ribeiro's unmistakable voice moving between deep gravitas and restrained intensity — it's all here. Cross Your Heart brings brooding melodic motifs and deliberate riff work that balances restraint with impact, reflecting on roadside shrines and lives lost too soon. Then there's The Great Wolf in the Sky featuring Alicia Nuhro on strings — one of the most epic moments in their entire discography, structured around expansive keyboard themes and harmonized guitar lines that demand to be sung along to.

Produced with Jaime Gomez Arellano (Paradise Lost, Sólstafir, Ghost), this album shines like a black diamond — luminous yet shadowed. It reconnects with the darker spirit of MOONSPELL's classic era while sounding powerful and contemporary. This isn't nostalgia. This is a statement. A gothic metal hallelujah.
