Four years is a long time to make the world wait, but when you've spent that stretch playing well over a hundred shows, headlining the biggest festivals Europe can throw at you, and capping it all off with a support run for your heroes Paradise Lost in the autumn of 2025, you've earned the right to take your time. Lacrimas Profundere are back, and "Lay Me Down O Silent Fear" hits like a band that no longer has a single thing to prove — and yet still goes out and proves it anyway, in every single note.
Recorded by Kai Stahlenberg (Powerwolf, Crematory) and mastered by Rami Nykänen (Crownshift), this record refuses to pick a lane, and that's precisely the point. Gothic, heavy metal, brutal, cruel, modern, oldschool — the band simply can't be bothered to choose, because there's no reason to. What pours out of the speakers is the essence of four musicians who have lived through it all and come out the other side more confident than ever. The melodies ache and soar in the same breath, the riffs land like a fist, and the gloom is thick enough to swim in.
