Rarely has a debut album sounded this fully formed. Maunah come roaring out of Denmark with Hjarta, a modern doom metal masterpiece that feels both ancient and utterly fresh. The band is built around Søren Sol Koldsen-Zederkof, a veteran of the Danish rock, folk, and metal scenes who's toured extensively with beloved Nordic folk act Krauka and released acclaimed records under the name LOS. But this isn't just another side project — the chemistry here is undeniable, all the stars aligned, and the result is something truly special.
While Hjarta digs deep into the melodic Scandinavian doom tradition, there's so much more bubbling under the surface. A dash of Nordic folk here, a pinch of modern metal there, all lifted by renowned producer Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, MOONSPELL, HEAVEN SHALL BURN) who handled the rhythm section recordings. Each spin reveals new layers — excellent ideas crammed into every corner. In the Danes' own words: "Maunah is the sound of despair and open skies.
