Background information about 'Nightfloating'
Forgotten Tomb returns with their haunting opus "Nightfloating", a mesmerizing journey through the darkest corridors of human emotion that showcases the Italian masters at their absolute peak. This album stands as a testament to their evolution from raw black metal beginnings into something far more nuanced and devastating. The opening track "Nightfloating" immediately sets the tone with its hypnotic atmosphere, while "A Chill That You Can't Taint" delivers crushing doom passages that feel like watching your own funeral in slow motion.
What makes this release truly special is how Forgotten Tomb seamlessly weaves together their trademark depressive black metal with doom elements that hit like a sledgehammer to the soul. Tracks like "This Sickness Withered My Heart" and "Unsafe Spaces" showcase Herr Morbid's most vulnerable vocal performances yet, alternating between tortured screams and clean passages that pierce straight through your chest. The album's second half, featuring "Drifting" and the closing "A Despicable Gift", creates an atmosphere so thick with despair you could cut it with a knife.
