Background information about 'Abominations Of Desolation'

Man, where do you even begin with "Abominations Of Desolation"? This is Morbid Angel at their most raw and unhinged, captured in all its chaotic glory before they became the death metal titans we know today. Originally recorded in 1986 but shelved until 1991, this album is like finding a lost treasure chest of pure brutality. The production might be rougher around the edges compared to their later masterpieces, but that's exactly what makes it so damn compelling - it's Morbid Angel without any polish, just pure unadulterated aggression and Trey Azagthoth's mind-bending guitar work in its most primal form.

What really gets me fired up about this release is how it showcases the band's evolution. Tracks like "Chapel Of Ghouls" and "Angel Of Disease" would later be reworked for "Altars Of Madness", but hearing these original versions is like witnessing the birth of something truly revolutionary. The atmosphere is darker, more experimental, and absolutely suffocating in the best possible way. You can hear Morbid Angel pushing boundaries and creating the blueprint for what extreme metal would become.
