Reek understand this instinctively, and "Death Is Something There Between" is the sound of a band dragging you slowly through the mud until you forget which way is up. This is doom in its most suffocating form — riffs that hang in the air like fog over a bog, drums that land with the weight of a collapsing mine shaft, and vocals buried so deep in the mix that they feel less like singing and more like something clawing its way out of the ground.

What makes this record stick is its patience. Nothing here is in a rush to impress you. The band lets a single chord ring until it starts to rot, then piles another on top of it, and another, until the whole thing becomes a wall of slow, grinding misery. There are moments of almost fragile quiet — a clean passage, a lone guitar line — and those moments hurt more than the heaviest riff, because they remind you that whatever is coming next is going to be worse. It is bleak, it is heavy, and it is genuinely well-crafted.

The production keeps everything thick and organic, with just enough grit to remind you this was played by human hands in a real room. If you like your doom served cold and unhurried, this one deserves a place on your shelf.
