Background information about 'Passage To Arcturo'
In 1991, Rotting Christ began their storied journey in black metal with the release of their first EP, "Passage to Arcturo." This seminal work captures the raw and unrefined energy that laid the groundwork for what would become a legacy in the realm of dark and extreme music. The EP is marked by its ferocious riffing and atmospheric elements that echo the influences of early Bathory and Venom, yet it heralds a distinct sound that was to become uniquely theirs.\n\n"Passage to Arcturo" is a testament to Rotting Christ's relentless pursuit of musical evolution. The tracks traverse a landscape of haunting melodies and crushing rhythms, immersing listeners in a chilling auditory experience. With tracks like "Old Coffin Spirit" and "Forest of N'Gai," the band showcases an ability to blend eerie atmospheres with brutal intensity, setting a high bar for subsequent releases. This reissue offers fans an opportunity to revisit or discover this pivotal release in the band's history.
