Background information about 'Envemon (Remastered)'

There are doom records that simply crawl, and then there's Runemagick's "Envenom" — a record that drags you down into the swamp and holds you there until you stop struggling. This is the Swedish trio at their most abysmally heavy, a remastered re-issue of a true underground classic that has lost none of its suffocating weight over the years. From the very first creeping riff, you know exactly what you're in for: thick, lumbering grooves that move in slow motion, bass notes so deep they rumble in your chest, and vocals that sound less like singing and more like a demonic possession caught on tape.

What makes "Envenom" so special is the raw, unpolished production that gives the whole thing a wonderfully old-fashioned, almost ritualistic atmosphere. Nicklas Rudolfsson layers melodic, single-note guitar lines over Emma Karlsson's booming, sustained bass, while Daniel Moilanen keeps the drums simple and devastating — no overplaying, just the right fills in the right places. Tracks like "Vultures" pummel with blunt force, and the occult-tinged lyrics, delivered in hateful grunts, crown the whole brew. Across its five tracks, Runemagick never leaves their chosen style, yet they constantly push at its edges, experimenting with influences that give "Envenom" its own unmistakable character. This is extreme death doom the way it was meant to sound: minimalistic, evil, and completely uncompromising. Give it a few spins and it will sink its claws in deep.
