Background information about 'The Bloodshed Summoning'

There is a very specific kind of joy in a record that knows exactly what it is and refuses to apologize for it. Sacred Steel have spent decades hammering out a sound that sits somewhere between classic heavy metal, thrash grit and the most theatrical corners of epic metal, and "The Bloodshed Summoning" is them at their most gloriously unhinged. The riffs come at you like a cavalry charge, the drums never stop galloping, and the vocals are pitched somewhere between a sermon and a war cry. It is loud, it is ridiculous in the best possible way, and it is enormous fun.

What makes this album tick is the pacing. Tracks like "Storm Of Fire 1916" and "When The Siren Calls" build their hooks out of pure momentum, while the longer cuts — "The Darkness Of Angels", "Crypts Of The Fallen", "Journey Into Purgatory" — stretch out into proper metal epics, all tempo shifts and dramatic tension. Then there are the odd little interludes, the seventeen-second "Join The Congregation" and the sub-minute "Doomed To Eternal Hell", which land like scene changes in a stage play and keep the whole thing feeling like a ritual rather than a playlist. The bonus cuts at the end, including a cover of "Dig Up Her Bones", are a welcome extra kick after the main event.
