Background information about 'Grebbeberg'
Sammath unleashes a devastating assault on the senses with "Grebbeberg", an uncompromising black metal opus that channels the raw fury of wartime devastation into eight tracks of blistering sonic warfare. This Dutch extreme metal powerhouse has crafted their most ferocious statement yet, weaving historical narratives of World War II battles into a tapestry of relentless blast beats, razor-sharp tremolo picking, and venomous vocals that cut through the mix like shrapnel through flesh.
The album opens with the title track "Grebbeberg", immediately establishing the band's intent to pummel listeners into submission before launching into the epic "Reichswald" and the aptly named "Murderous Artillery". Each composition serves as a sonic monument to the brutality of war, with tracks like "Last Gasp of the Dying" and "Crushed, Shattered and Destroyed" delivering exactly what their titles promise. The inclusion of Dutch lyrics in "Tot de laatste granaat" adds an authentic touch to this historical metal narrative, while closing track "Stahl und Feuer" provides a crushing finale that leaves no survivors in its wake.
