There is a particular kind of Swedish death metal that does not ask for your permission — it simply arrives, kicks the door off its hinges and starts swinging. Sodomisery deal in exactly that currency on "The Great Demise", and the result is a record that feels less like a listening experience and more like a physical confrontation in a very small, very sweaty room. The Stockholm-school DNA is unmistakable: those buzzsaw guitars, the down-tuned rumble, the sense that everything could collapse at any second and would probably enjoy doing so. But these guys are not mere archivists. They twist the template just enough to keep you guessing, dropping in a doom-laden crawl here, a razor-sharp tremolo passage there, always keeping the pressure on until the final second.

What really sells it is the sheer conviction. Nothing here sounds phoned in or calculated for a playlist — this is ugly, furious, riff-obsessed music made by people who clearly grew up worshipping at the altar of the classics while still wanting to leave their own boot prints on the genre. The production is thick and punishing without turning into a muddy wall, giving every riff room to breathe and every drum hit the weight it deserves. It is the sort of album that rewards repeat spins: the first time you get flattened, the second time you start noticing the little details buried in the chaos, and by the third you are already humming the riffs on your way to work. A nasty, glorious little slab of death metal.
