Background information about 'Songs To Moon'

No height is too steep for Stoned Jesus to climb. After 15 years of wandering through doom, psychedelia, grunge and art rock, these Ukrainian heavy-progressive trailblazers refuse to stand still. With "Songs to Sun" they kicked off an ambitious album trilogy that landed on plenty of best-of-2025 lists, and now, barely a year later, they're already cycling into their next phase. "Songs to Moon" is the darker, more introspective chapter of the trilogy, and it hits hard from the very first note.

The record opens in the long shadows of its predecessor with "Under the Skin", a loud, crushing slab of post-metal that plunges the whole thing into darkness like a setting sun. Frontman Igor Sydorenko sounds like a man still wrestling with the existential weight that hung over the last album. "Still I'm falling down / From high above," he sings with an almost unnerving cool on the lead single "Velvet", where doomgaze hooks are woven in with devastating precision. Then there's "Jackal", a mini prog-opera that finds the band at their most theatrical, and "Syzygy" — smack in the middle of the tracklist and falling exactly halfway through the entire trilogy — which stitches one melody from each "Songs to..." album into their first-ever instrumental. It's a clever, quietly moving trick.

But even on their darkest, moodiest record, Stoned Jesus can't be pinned to a single shade of blue. Following in the footsteps of Led Zeppelin III, Opeth's Damnation or Alice In Chains' Jar of Flies, the final lap strips everything back to acoustic guitar and Sydorenko's hushed vocals. "And when the sun goes down / It brightens up my mood." As the dreamy desperation of "Window in My Room" fades into the stark closer "One More Empty Day", the band return to earth weary but wise beyond their years. This is a giant leap into the most daring, deeply moving territory of their career.
