Italian symphonic power metallers TEMPERANCE are back with their seventh studio album, "Arcani", and it is an absolute triumph. The band has completely reshuffled the deck, structuring the entire record around the divinatory practice of Tarot. Each of the 13 spellbinding songs follows a different card of the Major Arcana, and the result is their most ambitious, most melodic, and most personal work to date.

From the moment "The Fool" kicks things off with its uplifting melodies and trademark duet vocals, you know you are in for something special. "The Magician: Into the Fire" lets the male vocals take the lead in a blazing anthem, while "Death: Right Before We Die" draws from deeply personal experiences, delivered with impressively high notes and gentle keyboard melodies. The quintet even ventures into hard rock territory with "The Tower: Lean Into Fear", an entirely new facet in their musical universe that showcases Kristin Starkey's roaring versatility. "The Devil: Sin, Sin, Sin" is a dramatic composition with an incomparably rousing chorus, and "Temperance: Forgiveness" turns the virtue card into a well-balanced, encouraging anthem. The triumphant "The Chariot: Alla Ricerca dell'America" even throws in Italian lyrics and a Swedish line honoring Starkey's chosen home. Closing with the acoustic "The World", TEMPERANCE wrap up "Arcani" with a feeling of overarching finality while still looking ahead.
