Background information about 'Universal Monsters'
The Helsinki vampires are back with a vengeance! The 69 Eyes deliver another slab of their signature goth-rock darkness on "Universal Monsters", an album that feels like stumbling into a midnight movie marathon where every frame drips with attitude and melody. The band has never been shy about their love for horror aesthetics, and this record wears its cinematic heart on its black leather sleeve from the very first riff.
What strikes you immediately is how effortlessly these Finns blend the brooding atmosphere of gothic rock with the punchy, hook-laden energy that made them icons of the scene. The guitars shimmer and slash, the rhythms lock in with a driving urgency, and Jyrki's unmistakable baritone prowls through every track like a creature of the night who knows exactly how to command a room. There is something timeless about the way these songs unfold — familiar enough to feel like old friends, yet fresh enough to keep you on your toes. Whether you have followed the band since their early days or are just discovering their seductive brand of dark rock, "Universal Monsters" delivers the goods with style and conviction.
