Background information about 'Universal Monsters'
The 69 Eyes have always walked the line between rock and roll swagger and a darker, more mysterious allure, and "Universal Monsters" is proof that the Helsinki vampires still know how to sink their teeth in deep. This is the sound of a band that has spent decades refining their signature blend of gothic rock, glam-infused melodies and heavy, riff-driven moments that hit like a midnight drive through a city that never sleeps. From the very first notes, you can feel that unmistakable atmosphere - brooding, cinematic and irresistibly catchy all at once.
The record delivers everything longtime fans have come to expect from the Helsinkis finest: Jyrki 69s deep, charismatic baritone gliding over shimmering guitar work and pounding rhythms that keep the energy high from start to finish. But "Universal Monsters" also shows a band that refuses to stand still, adding fresh textures and unexpected twists to their well-honed formula. Its the kind of album that rewards repeated spins, revealing new layers with every listen. Whether youre a die-hard devotee or a curious newcomer, this is gothic rock at its most anthemic and glorious. A true celebration of everything that makes this band so beloved after all these years.
