Background information about 'Afterwords'
Afterwords return with "The Gathering", a record that feels less like an album and more like a carefully curated séance. From the very first notes, you're pulled into a world where shimmering guitars weave through layers of ethereal synths, all anchored by vocals that carry both fragility and quiet defiance. There's a cinematic quality to these songs — each track unfolds like a scene in a film you didn't know you were watching, but can't look away from.
The production is lush without being overbearing, letting every detail breathe. What strikes you most is the emotional honesty here; Afterwords aren't hiding behind walls of reverb or cryptic metaphors. These are songs about connection, loss, and the strange beauty of moving forward. The rhythm section locks in with a precision that drives the more upbeat moments, while the slower tracks feel like late-night conversations with an old friend. It's the kind of album that reveals new layers with each listen — a quiet gem that deserves to be discovered.
